The neighbourhood

Living in our Ajuda student residence, you couldn’t be closer to your university, which means you’ll travel with ease to and from lectures, as well as exploit our social and study spaces when wanted.

On top of that, you’ll get to explore everything the beautiful area of Ajuda has to offer – whether that’s enjoying the cultural history of the city or enjoying a good meal at a local restaurant, this neighbourhood has it all.

Don’t forget to keep up to date with our blog for all the local events!

O Lutador

The right place to eat grab a steak à casa with fries, “prego” sandwich, lamb chops or the famous snails during the summer. It is one of the most loved restaurants by Lisboners in the Ajuda area.

Selva

A well-kept secret in the Ajuda area, but one that catches the eye of everyone who passes by. Selva offers a cosy atmosphere and space for co-working, with a healthy menu and mood lighting. What else do you need?

O Frade

The menu leaves nothing to be desired. The duck rice and the rabbit with octopus is really an explosion of flavours and mix that goes from Trás-os-Montes to the Algarve. A Portuguese delicacy that you'll want to try.

Belém Tower

Belém Tower is not only an icon of Portuguese architecture and one of Lisbon's most expressive monuments, but it was also elected by UNESCO as one of the Seven Wonders of Portugal. You won't want to miss this tour!

Jerónimos Monastery

The Jerónimos Monastery is considered one of the most beautiful architectural works in the world in Manueline Gothic style, and you willl soon see why. The monument has richly carved portals, not to mention the contrast of the stone with Lisbon's blue sky.

Museum of Modern Art (MAAT)

The architectural forms of the Museum of Modern Art (MAAT) transform the Belém area into a veritable postcard. The sunset in the background looks great in a photo to share on social media.

Ciau - University Computer Support Centre.

We know that every university student is always racing against time to print their academic papers, and how important it is to have a copy centre nearby. You will find, 5 minutes away on foot from Nido Ajuda, the Ciau - University Computer Support Centre.

LX Factory

As if the restaurants and bars weren't enough, on Sundays LX Factory is filled with market stalls selling organic products, clothing, photographs and accessories.

Ler Devagar Bookstore

The name already speaks for itself. Sit down, pick up a book and read slowly. This is where you can enjoy a good coffee while you browse the world of literature. Spacious, with books everywhere, and a room at the back where it houses the works of Pinocchio's Portuguese father, Pietro Proserpio.

The View Rooftop

Belém is more than just monuments and custard tarts. The View Rooftop gives us another perspective of the Belém area. This terrace is a relaxed after study space for the late afternoon, with friendly prices.

Village Underground

Built around two buses and 14 containers converted into diverse spaces, the Underground Village hosts the best of Lisbon's artistic community. It hosts music events with resident and international DJs, as well as theatre, cinema, dance and restaurant.

À Margem

Walking along the Tagus riverside always calls for a refreshing cocktail. The white terrace of À Margem has a fantastic view of the river and a menu of cocktails and very nice snacks. Always a good option for a drink at any time of the day.
