Parent and Guardian guide to Nido

We know that when your loved ones fly the nest, it can be a difficult transition period for everyone. That’s why we work hard to give our students the best possible living experience at Nido. We’ve got it covered from 24/7 security and CCTV, health and wellbeing trained on-site staff, living and working environments that suit their changing needs and many benefits to help students get settled into their new homes away from home.

Security

The safety and security of our residents is of utmost importance to us. In all our buildings we have 24/7 CCTV footage, the buildings are accessed via secure card entry with cards that cannot be replicated. We want students and staff to feel safe in our buildings, so we ask that every guest is checked in and out via reception and overnight guests only stay a maximum of 3 consecutive nights. Our team are on hand should you need to raise any security concerns or use our dedicated phone line (insert number) to report any issues during out of reception hours.

Emotional Support & Wellbeing

Our team are trained to provide mental health and wellbeing support. We are on hand should our students need advice, to speak to someone or to chat to a friendly face. We’re establishing a new charity partnership to provide additional support to our students above and beyond what our staff are trained to do. We will continue to invest in our student’s wellbeing in order to build communities that are inclusive open and supportive for all residents.

We are proud to announce our new partnership with Dr Tara Quinn-Cirillo, a psychologist with 20 years clinical experience, who will be helping us deliver our wellbeing programme. This programme will consist of live sessions, recorded content, infographics, blog posts and other useful resources to help and empower our students manage their emotional wellbeing and build resilience that they can carry into their adult lives.

Through COVID-19 we’ve continued to change and adapt the way we interact; we’ve implemented a number of new safety measures and adjustments to support our students through this period. We ask that any student self-quarantining lets a member of our team know so we can be on hand to help and we will update our regulations in line with the government advice.

The Nido experience

We know that choosing where to live is so much more than the actual physical space itself, however, our spaces are well-designed to support students through the pressures of university from our study pods and quiet zones for concentration and focus to our free onsite gym, cinema and gaming rooms. Some of our buildings benefit from a roof terrace or courtyard for our students to use, as we know the importance of getting access to the outdoors and fresh air.

The Nido experience extends beyond our physical buildings to support our students whilst staying with us. We appoint a dedicated Resident Ambassador for each of our buildings who organise events, community socials and are a wealth of knowledge about Nido and the local areas. We run a number of face to face events throughout the year and offer a full virtual events programme, accessible through our Instagram channel, giving our students the opportunity to interact with their neighbours to build their new community whilst staying with us.

We have recently launched the new Nido Resident App, a one-stop shop of handy features so residents can make the most of their stay at Nido. Here are some of the exciting new features:

  • Residents can track incoming deliveries, instantly register visitors and get exclusive discounts from our local and national partners.
  • My Concierge makes it easy to get quick answers to questions from the team onsite.
  • My Social keeps the conversation going with group chat style forums & joinable clubs for the whole Nido community.
  • The Amenities & Services sections will help residents get up to speed with all the amazing facilities on offer at their residence.
  • Our handy Local Guides pick out some of the best local cafes, shopping areas and tourist attractions nearby.

So you can rest assured, your loved ones have everything they need to make the best of their student experience.

Keeping in touch

We know keeping in touch is more important now than ever. We always welcome friends and family to visit our buildings, we can show you around and you are welcome to use our common spaces whilst visiting. Our buildings are centrally located and within walking distance of many nearby hotels, so arranging your visit is easy.
