What Are the Best Bars in Lisbon for Students?
Lisbon is a lively city with fantastic nightlife and lots of bars and social spaces to explore! We know that Lisbon’s vibrant nightlife is a big attraction to the city, so we’ve compiled five of our favourite bars for students:
- Pink Street
- 100 Montaditos
- Rooftop Carcavelos
- The Beer Hunter
- The Sinnerman Speakeasy
Every now and then you need a reprieve from studying, and we’re certain that whether your idea of the perfect night out involves dancing until morning or a quiet beer in a pub, there’s something here for you!
Pink Street
Pink Street is impossible to miss! This isn’t just a single bar – it’s an entire street in Cais do Sodré, which is renowned for its buzzing atmosphere and popular bars. Also known as the Rua Nova de Carvalho, this bright-pink lane is a major part of Lisbon’s nightlife and home to some of the best bars in Lisbon. Some of the most popular bars on Pink Street for students include:
- Pensão Amor
- Sol e Pesca
- Music Box
- Pink Wine Point
- 4 Caravelas Cocktail Bar
With a pretty pink floor, Pink Street is picture-perfect and makes a great background for Insta photos! Pink Street is just a 6-minute cycle or an 8-minute walk away from the historical landmark Arco da Rua Augusta so you can spend the morning learning more about Lisbon’s rich history before heading to the bars and unwinding for the weekend!
If you’re looking for the ultimate student experience and want to find the best hotspots for Lisbon nightlife, Pink Street is well worth a visit! Grab your friends and paint the town pink!
100 Montaditos
As a student, finding a place to grab a drink with friends after classes, at a reasonable price, always seems like an impossible task. That’s why, in the late afternoon, students in Portugal always end up with a cold beer in front of them, sitting on the terrace of one of the 100 Montaditos scattered around the city. Rest assured that there will always be a 100 Montaditos near your university or your residence/home.
Many students choose 100 Montaditos as a meeting point with friends due to its incredibly affordable prices, delicious snacks that accompany the refreshing drinks, the convenient locations, but above all, the vibrant social atmosphere created by the frequent gatherings of students. In our opinion, it’s an excellent way to meet new people in a relaxed environment.
In any 100 Montaditos, you’ll find cheap beers and sangria, but if you’re feeling more sophisticated, they also have wine served by the glass or bottle. It’s a great opportunity to explore the famous Portuguese wine culture in an affordable way. And the best part is, if you’re hungry, you can always pair your drink with thousands of different unique flavours in the form of sandwiches, salads, or appetisers since it’s affordable.
Rooftop Carcavelos
Are you looking to spend your evening in a classy cocktail bar with friends while watching the beautiful Lisbon sunset? Rooftop Carcavelos is absolutely the bar for you!
Rooftop Carcavelos has a wonderful selection of cocktails and mocktails – they even do large jugs of cocktails if you want to share them with your friends! Will you enjoy a dino sour? A green lady tea? A smoked passion? A sweet daisy? If these excellent names haven’t piqued your curiosity, we don’t know what will!
Rooftop Carcavelos is open Monday-Saturday from 4pm-11pm (until 12am on Friday and Saturday). If you fancy a bite to eat while you’re out, Rooftop Carcavelos has a delicious snack menu which includes crepes, bruschettas, gelato and wraps. They also have a busy schedule of live music events throughout the year, so you can go back time and time again to enjoy the brilliant music and fantastic vibes!
The Beer Hunter
Another of our favourite bars in Lisbon is The Beer Hunter! This classic, cosy little pub is a popular haunt for students – the decor is very traditional and the atmosphere is very laid-back, so it’s the perfect place to chill out after a long day of lectures!
They sell a wide range of beers at very affordable prices so you can enjoy your evening without worrying about breaking the bank. They also have a range of other alcoholic and soft drinks, as well as a small but delicious menu of food to go with them!
The Beer Hunter is open every day, 6pm-2am, apart from Tuesday when it’s closed. Take your friends and play a game of pool or snooker while you catch up!
The Sinnerman Speakeasy
Last but not least, we think The Sinnerman Speakeasy is one of the best bars for students! If you’re looking for a glamorous night out, The Sinnerman Speakeasy is your ideal destination!
The Sinnerman Speakeasy offers a wonderful experience for you and your friends. Get dressed up and peruse their incredible selection of cocktails – they’ve perfected classics like old fashions and grasshoppers, but we recommend their signature Peach Melba cocktail! They are equally well-known for their incredible smash burgers, which put the “sin” in Sinnerman, that’s for sure!
With a very spacious dance floor, there’s often live music and DJs playing at the weekend – no wonder it’s so popular with students! If you’re a fan of dancing the night away, you’ll be pleased to know that The Sinnerman Speakeasy is open until 4am every day (and 6am on the weekend).
