Student accommodation specialist Nido Living scooped three of the most coveted awards at the Global Student Accommodation (GSL) Awards last week.

GSL Awards are the most prestigious and unique in the industry as they are not ‘entered’ through the usual submission and judging process. Instead, they are based completely on direct feedback from tens of thousands of students around the world, making them a true reflection of student satisfaction.

Nido Living was recognised for Best Customer Service – Europe, Best Student Wellbeing – Europe and Best Private Housing – Europe.   By integrating student focused services, with high quality assets, Nido delivers robust returns and fosters vibrant communities, whilst offering an exceptional student experience.

Nido has been pioneering wellbeing in the sector for several years now, working with professional Psychologist Dr Tara Quinn in an industry-first partnership to deliver a global wellbeing hub and virtual counselling sessions for students in addition to creating Nido’s own student accommodation design guidelines built around wellbeing.

On student experience, the business has actively captured feedback from across its 5,000-bed operational portfolio via twice-yearly surveys, external reviews, and third-party research in addition to live monitoring by the 24/7 on-the-ground teams – all of which helps shape strategies for each asset and new development alongside continual improvement of existing assets.

Darren Gardner, Chief Operating Officer at Nido Living, said: “It’s an honour to be awarded these three important awards by GSL which underpins the hard work and shared values of every single person at Nido.  By placing our students – in terms of experience and wellbeing – at the heart of our accommodation and operational activities, success follows. We are delighted that this has been recognised and it’s even more special because these are the only awards in the industry that are voted by students themselves. It shows we are achieving what we set out to do every day.”

Nido Living has 7,000 beds operational or in the pipeline and has a robust growth strategy hiring Carlo Matta as CEO, Ryan Lee as CFO and Dr Beatrice Lafon as Chair of the newly appointed Nido Living Board all within the last six months alone. It has already announced intentions to enter the German and Italian markets, in addition to launching four new assets in 2024 alone.
